Sculptor Wood & Stone
As William Kolok works each day; he unveils layer after layer of stone. With chiseled texture and hammered time he searches for the beauty, character and imperfection in the stone and in his life.
Like the limestone he carves William Kolok's life consists of many layers. Kolok was raised in a working class neighborhood 30 minutes from NYC. During the turbulent 60's he moved to Georgia where he attended Berry College and obtained his MFA from the University of GA.
Kolok moved to Kentucky where for the past 30 years he has maintained an active studio working in stone and wood. In addition to visiting almost every state in the union, he has traveled in Europe, Central America and Africa.
